New book review by Brad Wray: Small Bohr: A Review of J. Heilbron's Niels Bohr: A Very Short Introduction

Metascience, Online First, 27 October 2021

"Niels Bohr is, without doubt, an important physicist, but often regarded as a quite elusive thinker. So it is useful to have a short introduction to his views and background. Oxford University Press did well by getting John Heilbron to write the book. Heilbron is a master of scientific biographies. His biography of Max Planck, The Dilemmas of an Upright Man, is a model for others writing scientific biographies. And Heilbron has spent much of his career studying the history of early twentieth-century physics, including as part of the research team, led by Thomas Kuhn, that put together the history of quantum physics project in the early 1960s. In this context, he was fortunate enough to have conducted interviews with many of the physicists responsible for the revolution in early twentieth-century physics, before they died."
