How Citizen Science interacts with Machine Learning

Oplysninger om arrangementet

onsdag 27. oktober 2021,  kl. 14:15 - 15:45

Auditorium D4 (1531–219) + ZOOM

Citizen Science has become an umbrella term in science policy for many different participatory approaches to bridging the gap between science and society. Unlike its historical predecessors, citizen science projects today use digital technologies and mobile devices that allow the level of participation to be increased. Notwithstanding broader normative expectations, citizen participation occurs mainly at the level of data collection and classification. Citizen Science thus appears as a vehicle to make big data usable for research in an analogous way to the machine. My talk will focus on the question whether and to what extent Citizen Science and Machine Learning can be mutually beneficial in data-driven research.

The colloquium is a hybrid event. Martina Franzen will present on Zoom, and there will be opportunity to see the presentation and ask questions in the auditorium. Please inquire about the Zoom link with Kristian H. Nielsen.

Coffee, tea, cakes and fruit will be served before the colloquium @ 2 pm
