Public Trust in Healthcare Professionals’ Use of AI and the Implications for Social Inequality
Abstract
Digitalization and use of AI is increasingly integrated into the Danish healthcare sector and is a notable focus of the 2024 Health Reform. Despite Denmark's highly digitized healthcare system, there is a recognized need for greater attention to how medical AI may reproduce or intensify health inequalities. Similarly, understanding patient perceptions and acceptance of AI-assisted expertise remains crucial. This project explores the complex relationship between trust and social inequality in relation to medical AI, examining patients’ views on AI in healthcare and its impact on trust in AI-assisted expertise and its implications for social inequality.
